What's Wrong With Me?
By Chris Savage // Reliable Strategies
Is There Something Wrong with You?
Have you ever asked yourself, "What's wrong with me?"
You might feel like your life is a mess or that you don't like who you are anymore.
It's easy to lose hope for the future and give up on trying to improve yourself because you don’t feel you’re worthy of success.
But you’re wrong.
I know what it’s like to feel like you’re not good enough, or that there’s something wrong with you.
For years I felt like there was something wrong with me, and that my life was nothing but a string of failures.
Everyone has these thoughts, but you need to learn how to deal with them so they don’t control you anymore.
Let's dive in ...
6 Things That Are Wrong With You
1. You're Not Who You Could Be
We're all good at something, but we can always be better.
There's always room for improvement in your skills and abilities.
The trick is to figure out what you need to work on most.
That way you can improve your life in the fastest possible way.
Start by asking yourself some questions:
- What are your goals?
- What do you wish you were better at?
- How would life be different if this was improved?
Take a look inside yourself and see where there might be growth opportunities.
It doesn't matter how small they are. Sometimes the smallest changes have the biggest impact.
2. You Feel Overwhelmed
Can you relate to this feeling?
You feel like there's too much to do and it feels impossible to get everything done.
When you feel overwhelmed and you've taken on too much, it's time to take a step back and assess your priorities and goals.
Sometimes it feels like you’re just spinning your wheels, getting nowhere fast.
But it doesn't have to be that way.
You can take back control and get everything done without being stressed out or anxious about it all.
You just need to know how.
3. You Don't Like Your Appearance
Have you ever felt like there's something wrong with the way you look?
I know I have.
It impacts everything in your life: how you feel about yourself, the way people see you, and even what food and lifestyle choices you make.
You'll stop feeling like something is wrong with how you look once you reframe your perspective on what beauty is.
If you do have issues with your appearance, you're not alone.
It's a common feeling everyone encounters.
But you need to overcome it once and for all so that it doesn't keep coming up in your life.
There were times when I looked in the mirror and didn't even like my own reflection.
It's painful when you don't like yourself, and it’s self-destructive if you don't do anything about it.
What makes you beautiful is not only your appearance... it's your attitude!
We’ve all met people who aren’t physically beautiful in the traditional sense of the word but have personal magnetism and an amazing attitude.
These people are incredibly attractive.
4. You Feel Unsuccessful
A lot of people think they're not good enough because they don't have the success they want.
Remember that success is a moving target.
What you define as successful today will be different from what you consider successful next year.
Feeling good about yourself is simply a matter of perspective.
Are you focusing on your weaknesses or your strengths?
When you start to believe in yourself and act that out in the world, other people will believe in you as well.
As your self-belief grows your whole life will change for the better.
5. You're Lazy
No one is born lazy.
It's a learned behavior that people have adopted at some point in their lives.
The truth is, laziness is just a habit - like any other bad habit you might have.
You know deep inside what you’re capable of. You know what you should be doing.
But for whatever reason, you don’t feel the drive to do it.
These days it’s easy to be lazy. People are happy to do the least amount of work possible.
If you’re sitting around feeling unproductive and uninspired it’s no wonder you feel like somethings wrong with you, because there is!
Look at any successful person you admire and you’ll see that in their own way they’re incredibly productive.
Once you set some meaningful goals for your life laziness won't be a problem.
6. You Think You Have to Be Perfect
Perfectionism is a trap you need to be wary of.
It’s ok to strive to be the best you can possibly be.
But if your self-esteem depends on how “perfect” you are, you’ll never feel good about yourself.
We're constantly comparing ourselves to others, we want the perfect body, the perfect career, and so on.
But the pursuit of perfection has a dark side.
It makes people so self-critical that they avoid trying new things or taking risks because they fear criticism or failure.
We all want to be perfect, but the irony is that the desire for perfection can often lead to failure.
When you expect yourself to be perfect, you disappoint yourself whenever you feel "not perfect".
It's really an illusion. Instead of trying to be perfect, go for excellence.
When it comes to achieving your goal the most important thing is to do something.
Take action, and do the best you possibly can in the situation.
Don’t worry about being perfect.
Like Mark Zuckerberg says: "Done is better than perfect".
7. You Quit When Things Get Hard
Quitting is a form of self-sabotage.
You give up on yourself when things get tough, and you're faced with challenges and obstacles.
No one likes to fail. It’s uncomfortable, embarrassing, and frustrating.
Failure can feel like the end of the world, but it's not.
Failure just means you tried something and didn't work out.
That same failure could lead you to something so much better than what you originally wanted.
Don't be so quick to quit when things don't go your way.
Hang in there a bit longer, and keep at it.
The thing about failing is that it's never the end of your story.
Your failures become lessons learned, fuel for your fire or opportunities to grow into a better version of yourself.
When you choose to see failure this way, it can be a positive thing
Best Ways to Improve Yourself
1. Read More
How much time do you spend reading?
If you’re like most people, you don't read nearly enough.
Research has shown the average person only reads about 3 hours a week.
Developing new habits to improve yourself can be a difficult process.
But it’s not as hard as you think.
Reading is one of the best ways to improve yourself. Make it enjoyable.
Sit back and relax with a cup of tea and an engaging book.
Think critically about what you're reading, and note of any ideas you can apply to make your life better.
2. Get Yourself in Shape
The most important step in feeling better about yourself is to elevate your mental and physical states.
Both can be accomplished through exercise.
It's a simple and effective way to get the best out of yourself.
Anyone who exercises regularly knows it makes you feel happier, healthier, and more confident all around.
It’s the best way to lift your mood and give yourself a boost of self-esteem.
What are you waiting for?
3. Face Your Biggest Fears
One constant in life is change.
Change can be scary, but it's the only way to grow and improve.
Fear of change usually stems from something we are afraid will happen or a repeat of something that has happened before.
A lot of people spend their lives running away from their fears.
They don't want to take risks or try anything new, so they stay in their comfort zone.
The problem is that it can cause a lot of unhappiness and stress.
One way you can overcome this is by identifying your deepest fears and start working on dissolving them.
Have you ever felt paralyzed by indecision?
You were afraid of making the wrong decision, so you didn't make any, and you lost your opportunity.
Fear to take action leads to regret.
Failure and rejection can be rough, but living a life full of regret is a lot rougher.
As Mark Twain said, "I've had many fears in my life, most of which never came true".
Instead of allowing your fears to control you, face them head-on.
4. Be Your Best Self
What does it mean to live life as your “best self?”.
What is your best self?”, Do you even know?
Living as your best self means you enhance your strengths and overcome your weaknesses.
It also means you have clear objectives for your life and you’re actively working on making them a reality.
As your best self, you take care of yourself.
You make decisions that will benefit you in the long term, and you stay focused on your most important goals.
When you live your best life you also inspire others to do the same.
You need reliable self-confidence and a belief in your abilities.
Success isn't only about achieving goals, it's also about being able to handle any obstacles that might get in your way.
