BY CHRIS SAVAGE
What's Most Important to You?
1. A meaningful purpose to live for
2. Thriving mental and physical health
3. Freedom to choose (millions of people don’t have this simple luxury),
4. Good connections with family and friends,
5. A level of financial stability to live comfortably without lack and worry about money.
What Makes Life Happy?
There’s a recipe for success and happiness.
Happy people choose to respond in ways that lead to a positive outcome.
Keep these guid lines in mind;
1.Don't compare yourself to anyone except who you were yesterday
2. Don’t wallow in regrets from the past, learn and move on
3. Know who you are and what you want, and be yourself unashamedly
4. Spend as much time as you can doing what you enjoy
5. Don't take yourself too seriously and keep a sense of humour
What Are the Important Things to Do in Your Life?
The most important thing you can do in your life is aim to be the best version of yourself you can be.
You do that by setting worthy goals and a designing a lifestyle that supports your pursuit of those goals.
Here are a few ideas you can apply today to make your own life happier.
1. Have an Optimistic Outlook for the Future
People with an optimistic outlook have better health, relationships, and quality of life than pessimists.
Optimism opens your eyes to all the richness life has to offer.
It means believing in your abilities, knowing one way or another you'll come out ahead, and that the future looks bright indeed.
2. Challenge Yourself to Greatness
Challenging yourself keeps your mind sharp and your will strong.
Like a muscle, the more pressure and intensity you apply the harder and stronger it becomes.
Solving problems builds character.
Your personal struggles teach you things you can't learn any other way.
The most influential people throughout history had to overcome enormous challenges before they found their success.
3. Be Kind to Yourself and Others
The golden rule is to treat people how you'd like to be treated yourself.
Showing respect is a sign of your own self respect. If you don't feel worthy why would anyone else?
Do you believe you're worthy of success or do you feel like you’re not good enough?
Know your self worth and act that out in the world by living your best life.
When you feel good about yourself you're nicer to the people around you.
4. Attain Knowledge, Education, and Wisdom
Attaining knowledge and education doesn’t mean sitting in a classroom learning things you have no interest in.
It means learning and applying useful information relevant to your interests and goals.
Knowledge gives you understanding and insights that help you to better navigate the world.
Keep reading, keep listening and never stop learning.
What Is Most Important in Relationships?
To express your thoughts and feelings to your partner you need to be able to communicate them clearly and effectively.
Your partner isn’t a mindreader (nor are you).
The lines of communication between you need to be free and open if you want your relationship to last.
You can’t be happy with someone you don’t trust.
Think about it. If you can’t trust your partner but you’re still with them what does that say about you?
Clearly they’re in control.
The longer you stay the lower your self-esteem will fall.
Trust between partners is critical. Not just for intimate relationships either.
Without trust, no relationship can grow and prosper.
But when you do have trust, a bond is formed that only grows stronger over time.
Similar to trust, loyalty to stay faithful is a prerequisite to relationship harmony.
Loyalty over time leads to trust.
Once loyalty is broken it’s very difficult if not impossible to recover.
Things can never go back to what they once were after the trust and loyalty have been broken.
What Is Most Important for Your Health?
Regular exercise isn’t just about having a six-pack and a cute butt.
When you incorporate exercise into your lifestyle it becomes something you do, without question.
Once you're in the habit of exercising regularly you’ll start to feel off when you don’t exercise.
By incorporating regular exercise into your life you're preventing sickness and disease, and ensuring a higher quality of life for yourself.
Exercise also releases chemicals in your brain that make you feel amazingly good!
2. What You Put Into Your Body
This doesn’t only mean food. Of course, you don’t want to be gorging on hot dogs and chocolate every day.
That also means toxins such as cigarettes, alcohol, and various drugs.
Only you know what you’re putting into your body, what you need to consume less of, and what you should do more of.
You don’t have to go ultra vegan or follow all the latest health trends.
Eat clean, go easy on fast food, drink a ton of water, and avoid consuming poison like nicotine and excessive amounts of alcohol.
Lifestyle means everything you do in your life.
How much sleep do you get?
Do you spend enough time outdoors?
What types of people do you associate with and what activities do you spend your time on?
What kinds of books do you read and music do you listen to?
Do you get frustrated and angry at the drop of a hat or are you calm and rational in the face of chaos?
All these make up your quality of life.
Check your lifestyle and decide what you should keep and what you need to change.
What Is Most Important When Building Your Wealth?
1. Have Money Goals
Be clear about your money goals.
If you have zero in the bank don’t set a goal for a million dollars (yet).
Start with a goal of saving $2,000 or $5,000 then when you reach that set a higher one.
Write a figure and put it somewhere you’ll see it every day.
Think of ways you can make that amount of money.
The right idea will come to you. When it does, follow it up.
2. Work Hard to Accumulate Money
Your income is your key to building your wealth.
To keep your income steady and rising you need to work your tail off.
Wealth isn’t interested in visiting lazy people. If you want something you have to work for it.
If you’re not willing to work for it then forget about it. Accumulating wealth isn’t for you. Go and do something else.
But if you are willing to pay the price, stay productive whether working your day job or building your side hustle.
3. Watch Your Expenses
It doesn’t matter how much you earn if you spend it all.
Expenses are what kill you financially. I found this out the hard way when I was starting out.
I’d make good money but there was always something I had to buy.
So I started tracking my expenses on a spreadsheet.
I realized I was working hard just to give my money away, buying stuff I didn't need.
When I cut my expenses and kept earning I completely turned my finances around and I haven’t looked back since.
4. Save as Much Money as You Can
The more money you have the more options and opportunities you can take advantage of.
When you have no money you’re stuck. But when you have surplus money you can start making progress.
Knowing you have a nice cash cushion tucked away gives you more freedom to live life your way.
Start a savings account and immediately transfer 50% of all money you receive to this account.
Learn to live on the other 50%. If you can’t do that you need to cut your expenses.
If you do this for long enough you’ll become rich.
5. Learn About Money and Investing
Retail Financial markets are like swimming in shark-infested water.
If you don’t know what you’re doing you’ll be eaten alive.
Market players are standing by waiting to take your money.
All investment carry some degree of risk. But as complex as it might seem, investing is simple.
The best defence against risk is to learn as much as you can about money, investing, and psychology
6. Avoid Credit Cards and ‘Dumb Debt’
People who are smart enough to avoid credit cards have usually had their ass burned already so they know how dangerous they are.
Want more money? Don’t use credit cards.
Once your debt and fee's start accumulating you realise you're knee deep in quick sand.
Dumb debt is when you borrow money to buy dumb stuff you don’t need.
That's things like new clothes you don't wear, or buying a new car on dealer finance - DUMB!
Dumb debt for dumb stuff.
If you want to build wealth you have a decision to make:
Be a consumer or a wealth builder, but you can’t be both.
7. Forget ‘Get Rich Quick’ Think Long Term
There are no shortcuts to wealth.
1. Work hard to ensure a consistent and rising income.
2. Save a high percentage of that income (75%)
3. Invest your savings into assets you understand and that fit your risk profile
4. Give your investments time to mature. Get on with your life, repeating the process.
5. One day you’ll check your portfolio and be amazed at how much money you have.
Living these principles long enough will build financial abundance in your life.
What Is Most Important to Your Personal Success?
1. A Positive Mental Attitude
Having a positive mental attitude is a choice.
Who you are is a result of how you think and what you do.
With confident optimism there isn't much you can’t accomplish.
It’s easy to be positive and confident when things are going well.
The real test is whether you can maintain that mindset when the turd hits the fan.
2. Good Habits
Good habits help you get more out of life while at the same time move you towards your goals faster.
We only have a limited amount of time while we’re alive.
It makes sense to use that time as productively as possible, in pursuits that will give us the biggest return from our efforts.
All your little habits compounded day after day is what leads you to your ultimate destiny.
Only you can decide what that destiny will be.
3. Clear Meaningful Goals
Having a clear idea of who you want to be and what you want your life to look like is the foundation upon which all your future success will stand.
Without goals you’re a leaf on the ocean, drifting wherever life takes you.
But when you have clear goals, a burning desire to achieve them, and an actionable plan to make them real, your life can become what you want it to be.
