1. Face Your Demons
Most of our fears are self-created, and will probably never happen.
But we still drive ourselves mad.
Thinking, overthinking, worrying, and obsessing about what ‘could’ or ‘might’ happen.
Everyone has a demon or two deep within their psyche.
But until you face down your demons they’ll keep coming back to haunt you.
When you face your demons and sort yourself out your power increases and your life improves.
Your mind clears and your self-image improves.
Radiate positive energy and take advantage of opportunities when they come your way.
That's what it means to seize the moment.
2. Be Your Best Self
You need to be in the best shape of your life, mentally, physically, and emotionally.
How do you become your best self?
Get very clear on who you are and what you want.
Identify the weakest parts of your personality and start improving them incrementally.
If you stay consistent and don’t give up you can transform yourself and your life.
Living without fear doesn’t mean you never feel fear. It means you feel it but keep going despite it.
3. Know What You Want
You can’t seize a moment if you don’t know what you’re seizing.
When you know what you want you’ll know what to keep an eye out for.
Then when you see it you can jump right on it.
Knowing what you want doesn’t mean you know every detail in advance.
It means you have decided what you want most at this point in your life and you're going after it.
Once you decide what you want, the world starts to mould itself around your aim.
4. Build Your Self Confidence
Facing your fears and seizing the day comes from your mindset and attitude.
The right attitude stands upon self-confidence, self-respect, and personal dignity.
The next question is how do you build self-confidence?
The best way to build self-confidence is to challenge yourself.
Push yourself out of your comfort zone to build resilience, which you can then apply to the rest of your life.
You also want to take inventory of your habitual thoughts and beliefs.
If your self-talk is negative, your confidence will be low and you won’t be able to seize your day or live without fear.
If your thoughts and beliefs are empowering and become part of who you are, nothing can stop you.
Your mindset determines all your successes and failures.
5. Say Yes More Often
Hesitation kills your ability to seize the day and live without fear.
The window of opportunity doesn’t stay open for long. When you see it you have to take it.
The only way you can do that is to be confident in your own ability to finish what you start.
New experience? Say yes. Meeting new people? Say yes.
Do something new you think you can’t do but have always wanted to? Say yes.
6. Visualize Success
Visualization isn’t some new-age woo-woo idea.
Elite athletes have been using visualization for years to prime their minds for a big event.
Everyday people like you and I use visualization whether we know it or not.
Visualization clarifies what you want and moves you in the right direction.
Your mind thinks mostly in pictures so visualization is a natural extension of that.
There's many different “methods” of visualization.
The important thing is to visualize clearly what you want in a way that makes you feel good while you’re doing it.
Visualize yourself having or doing the thing you want.
The key is repetition.
If you visualize once and think all your dreams will come true you’re delusional. It won't happen.
But if you have clear goals, a plan, and you’re taking action, daily visualization gives you a real boost.
7. Set Clear Goals
If you don’t know where you’re going how are you ever going to get there?
You don’t have to be so goal-oriented you become like a robot.
But you do need to have a blueprint for your mind to follow.
Don’t overwhelm your mind with 20 things you must do by next week.
Choose 2 0r 3 worthwhile goals you want to achieve in the next 1-3 years that will have a positive impact on your life.
How to Set a Clear Goal
a) Always write your goals in the present tense.
Eg. Don’t write “one day I will…” instead write “ I am …” as if you already have it.
b) Write your goals in short and succinct sentences.
Make it easy for your brain to memorize and internalize.
c) Don’t set a goal then sit there doing nothing.
Setting the goal is the easy part, now you need a plan to get your goal.
d) Take action and always assess if what you’re doing is giving you the result you want.
If it’s not, consider changing your approach.
e) Never give up or stop taking action until one way or another, you get what you want.
8. Enjoy Physical Exercise
The benefits of regular exercise are too many to name.
But in the context of seizing the day and living without fear Physical exercise should be at the top of your list.
When you exercise your brain releases a flood of pleasure chemicals.
The result is a positive and powerful mental and emotional state.
What Are the Benefits of Exercise?
- Increased confidence and energy
- Improved clarity of thought
- A more attractive body
- Stronger self-discipline and mind power.
- The list goes on...
You'll become a more confident, fit, focused human being who can have what they want.
That’s what it means to seize the day.
9. Follow Your Own Path
Don’t live your life by anyone else's criteria.
Think for yourself, and live in alignment with what you believe is true and correct.
Following your own path means having your own goals and plans, and implementing them your way.
It doesn’t mean being ignorant and not listening to the advice of other people.
You can never know everything. Learn from others but make your own decisions.
10. See the Bigger Picture
Anxiety is taking something that hasn’t happened and making it way more important than it is.
Obsessing about every detail kills your motivation and momentum.
It turns confidence into doubt and keeps you in procrastination.
If you hesitate before seizing the moment, remember none of this will matter in 5 years. You have very little if anything to lose.
Don’t waste time thinking about what if’s.
Sure, do an initial risk assessment before doing anything, but once you know your life's not in danger, go for it.
The bigger picture is your vision and your goals, and making your life the masterpiece you know it could be.
11. Go With the Flow
There are so many variables and moving parts to life.
There’s no way you can know in advance what’s going to happen or when.
Yes, you need goals. Yes, you need a plan.
But you also need the flexibility to adjust your plan as life changes around you.
Change your approach. Go with the flow.
Going with the flow means adapting the route to your goals and desires to whatever's going on around you.
Expect success and be confident in your ability to win.
But also keep your eyes open to changes going on around you.
When you go with the flow you actually get better results than if you stick to a rigid, ineffective plan.
12. Dump Social Media
Social media platforms are designed to keep you staring at the screen.
The longer you scroll the dumber you get, literally.
Social media platform designers don’t allow their own kids to use social media, so what does that tell you?
Imagine if you used that time to work on your goals and your life.
Where would you be now?
Chase your goals. Be your best self and live your best life… and dump your social media.
13. Contemplate Death
You can't appreciate life if you haven’t contemplated death.
The line between life and death is a thin line of thread and we can cross over it at any time.
Once you realize this you start to see life differently.
You don’t sweat the small stuff or waste your time on things you aren’t passionate about.
You realize life is temporary and it can be taken from you at any moment.
Contemplating death helps you more appreciate life.
14. Stop Making Excuses
The only person who can hold you back is yourself.
Think about your goals for a moment.
Now ask yourself why you don’t already have them.
That’s your excuse.
Usually, the reason you don’t have what you want is you haven't done enough to get it.
You're not entitled to success. You have to earn it.
Stop making excuses for not being who you should be, and just get on with it.
Think about how much those same excuses have been holding you back.
15. Spread Positive Energy Wherever You Go
Living with a positive mindset reinforces your identity as a successful human being.
Success has no time for negativity.
Positive energy attracts people and opportunities your way.
There’s nothing new age or woo-woo about that.
People like to be around positive people.
When an opportunity comes your way if you don't have the right mindset you either won’t see it or not take advantage of it.
Seizing the moment and living without fear is a mindset and a lifestyle choice.
It’s your choice, and no one can make it for you.
Success is closer than you think if you stay focused and keep taking action.
The world is yours, go get it!
