1. Time for change
You've decided it's time to make your life better.
But where do you start and how do you do it?
That's what this article is about.
How to make lasting changes in your life.
You can resist the change and fear the unknown, or you can decide to change.
If you postpone or try to ignore what needs to be changed, it catches up with you and smacks you in the face.
When it's time to change don't wait. Sooner is always better.
Action is the answer.
Most of the time you know what you need to do.
The opportunity to make the change can even be right in front of you.
But you wobble back and forth about making the change.
Then the fear kicks in.
You start to doubt whether you really even need to change.
It's easy to start procrastinating and distracting yourself with other things.
But you can't escape your weakness.
You can delay it, but sooner or later you'll have to change.
There is a choice.
You can change of your own free will, or you can wait until life forces you to change.
That's not a good place to find yourself in.
You can't escape unexpected events that come out of nowhere and shake you.
What you can do is prepare as best you can and deal with them when they come.
When you know a punch is coming you can brace yourself for it, even evade it completely.
But when it hits you unaware the damage can be devastating.
Personal crises are a sign that something needs to change.
2. 7 ways to make your life better
2.1 Decide what's meaningful to you
Take come time alone to think and write.
Decide who you are and what you want.
Get clear about the goals in your life and what makes you feel happy and fulfilled.
Answer these questions so you have a sense of clarity, purpose and direction.
What do you want your life to look like in 3 years?
Clarity and self-awareness is an essential part of changing your life.
You won't get what you want if you don't know where it is.
Decide where you want to go and put your focus in that direction.
2.2 Visualise how you want your life to be
Having a clear vision of what you want increases the likelihood you'l get it.
Deciding what's important and building a vision around that is the first step.
Real change happens when you get fed up.
Fed up with yourself, fed up with how you're life is, fed up with everything.
The only option you have left is to make the changes now that will improve your life and circumstances.
Your vision should include goals and desires that excite you enough to move with a sense of urgency and take action.
Einstein said we're boxed in by the boundary conditions of our thinking.
Your own mind keeps you trapped in a cage. Now it's time to break free.
Changing your life takes work, so make your vision something that will make it worth the effort.
Looking at pictures of what you want and telling your brain thats whet you want kicks your RAS (Reticular Activating System) into gear.
When you start telling your mind what's important, it goes to work, searching for thing's related to what you want.
Visualisation doesn't need to be a ceremonious event.
Sure you can take some time aside to close your eyes and visualise.
But the ultimate vision for where you want your life to go should always be playing in your mind.
2.3 Set goals that you really want
When you have your vision it's time to start setting some measurable goals.
Don't be a dreamer. Nothing will happen for you.
No one's going to give you anything.
You have to go out and get it with your own mind and your own hands.
Set goals than mean something to you and that are important enough for you to take action.
What would you feel incredible pride were you to achieve?
When you have a clear, meaningful goal and a plan to go and get it there's not much that can stop you.
Make sure your goals are for you. No-one else.
2.4 Don't beat yourself up for past mistakes
Carrying mistakes and regrets from the past is like a ball and chain around your ankle.
You can't change what you did or didn’t do.
Not releasing the pain associated with old memories can destroy you by robbing you of your future potential.
Learn from the experience. Decide what you'll do different next time.
But don't carry emotional baggage from the past with you into the future.
Your vision is where your focus needs to be.
What you do today and tomorrow is what matters.
Mistakes and failures are a part of being alive. The person you are when you made them isn't who you are now.
Stop beating yourself up.
Make a promise to yourself you won't make the same mistake again and move on with your life.
You can never expect to be successful without some failure along the way.
Embrace it, learn from it, and allow it to make you better.

But if you want a different results you need to do start doing something different.
Setting new goals an living outside of your comfort zone is how you grow.
As the size of your comfort zone increases so does your confidence.
Set a goal and embrace the challenge. If you're too comfortable you won't succeed.
Don't play small either.
Whatever your goals are make them bigger.
Don't let your fears control your life.
You don't have time for that. You won't live forever and you have a lot to do.
Optimise every day you have.
Write yourself a list of a few things you know would be beneficial to you that are outside your comfort zone.
Take action today and start ticking them off your list one at a time.
When you step outside your comfort zone that's when life begins.
2.6 Face your fears
The longer you ignore your fears the bigger they become.
Every person on earth has fear. You will feel fear.
But if you want to change your life for the better you have to take action despite it.
Fear is a trick. What you fear is never as bad as you think it is.
When you do whatever you feared, you realise the was nothing to, well, fear.
That's why people refer to fear as False Evidence Appearing Real.
It's false, nothing but an illusion in your mind.
But people know this and still they let their fear control them.
When you face your fears and smash through them you create a new self-identity for yourself.
You then start acting in alignment with your new identity.
Your new behaviour creates a positive feedback loop that changes your entire life.
Acknowledge your fear and walk through it.
2.7 Embrace the process of changing for the better
Develop an attitude of optimism and curiosity as you start to make your life better.
Change is a process you go through.
You can decide to change in a second.
But it takes time to integrate that change into the rest of your life.
Changing your life for the better means letting go of things that until now have been holding you back.
People, places, habitual thoughts and behaviours.
Keep your vision at the forefront of your mind and keep taking actions to move you closer to the changes you want to see.
Embracing the process is committing to changing your life for the better and doing whatever takes to make that happen.
