Getting Back on Track
Everyone goes through difficult times.
Most of the time when we find ourselves in an unhappy place it's because of our own doing.
Most of our problems we create for ourselves.
You get to a place of being fed up and you know something has to change.
That 'something' is you. As you change so does the world around you.
What's done is done. The past is the past.
Leave it where it is.
Look to the future and remember these truths. They'll serve you well;
- No problem is permanent. It will pass and things will be better
- Your biggest problems can become your greatest opportunities
- You become smarter and stronger from the difficult times if you choose to be
- Some time in the future you will look back and see a deeper meaning about why things happened the way they did.
1. Accept and Commit Forward
You need to accept where you are before you can make a positive change.
As long as you're blind or ignorant to your problems you won't be able to overcome them.
Don't stay stuck in ignorance repeating the same behaviours that you know don't make you happy.
If what you were doing was the right way you would have what you wanted already.
You need to try something new.
Albert Einstein said “You can’t solve a problem with the same mind that created the problem”.
It's time to change the way you look at things and take a new perspective.
when you create a new vision for yourself you can take your life in a new direction.
If you stop and think about it the signs were there all along.
Maybe you became complacent or reckless and you failed to see the warnings that were right in front of you.
Accept where you are. You can't go back and change the past.
But you can improve the present and make a better future.
Acceptance doesn’t mean giving up or settling for less.
It means being honest with yourself.
Identify your areas for improvement make a conscious effort to improve.
2. Apply Cause and Effect
Cause and effect is one of the most powerful forces on earth.
When you use it to your advantage you can literally change your life.
Cause and effect is the answer to the questions you have about how your life turned out.
Understanding and applying cause and effect will benefit you in two primary ways.
You can look back at your past decisions that led you to where you are today.
By learning from your mistakes you don't make then again in the future.
Use what you learn to make better decisions (cause) and get better results (effect).
Look forward and think of how you want your life to be.
What do you have to do now (causes) that will get you there?
Plan a course of action and get busy. It won't magically come to you, you have to go and get it.
3. It's 100% Your Responsibility
Getting your life together means taking responsibility for where you are and where you want to go.
No one will ever care more about your success than you.
There will be no magic “thing” that changes everything for you.
You won't attend a 3-day seminar and have all the answers you need to change your life.
You won’t change your life by watching The Secret and making a pretty vision board.
The real secret is that there is no secret.
- No one is coming to save you.
- No one is going to do it for you.
- You have to do it for yourself.
- You'll have to work for it.
It's likely you already know how you could improve your life.
The only person that can do that for you is you.
So far you have failed to do what you know would make your life better.
Don't waste any more time than you already have.
Today is the day you turn your life around.
4. Decide What You Want
Think about your current predicament as little as possible
Focus on where you are going. Keep yourself in the now.
You need a clear idea of what you want.
How can you turn your life around if you're not clear on what that means?
You have to know what you want. What direction do you want your life to go?
Set clear goals. Think about what would be the best way to get them, and take action.
The answer is always some type of action.
Action creates traction.
Wherever you find yourself today start thinking of where you want to be tomorrow.
Align your thoughts and actions to what you want and start pursuing what you want.
5. Solutions Not Problems
People drive themselves insane by giving too much importance to things that don't matter.
You might think because you screwed up a few times you're a failure and you'll never succeed.
You're now incapable of success. A fool and a loser for life.
That's ascribing over importance to things.
You screwed up, yes. Maybe you screwed up big.
It happens. Learn from it and don't do it again.
Knowing what not to do is as valuable as learning what to do.
Don't give anything too much importance.
Keep things in perspective.
Use a growth mentality and an abundant mindset.
Anthony Robbins says “see it as it is, but not worse than it is”.
Accept it for what it is and focus your attention on making it better.
When you’re trying to improve yourself don't overcomplicate things.
Delete all the bs from your life.
Spend time reflecting on who you are and where you want to go.
Keep your mind clear and don’t fog it with alcohol or drugs.
Get some physical exercise and keep your body in shape.
A healthy body and a healthy mind are key ingredients to turning your life around.
You got where you are because of certain thoughts, decisions and actions.
Over time they became habits and steered your life in a particular direction.
If you don't change your habits you don't change your life.
The way to turn your life around is to turn yourself around first.
6. Don't Punish Yourself
If you've made stupid mistakes (and we all have), don't be too hard on yourself.
Don't identify yourself as you failures or your success.
The most successful people became that way because they did in fact make so many mistakes.
They were able to learn and come back smarter, stronger and wiser the next time around.
If you messed up maybe it wasn't all bad.
Don’t be too hard on yourself when you make mistakes or come up short.
Don't let yourself off for under performance, always hold yourself to a high standard.
But don't crucify yourself either.
Learn from your experience. Make a decision that this is the beginning and not the end.
Things to Remember
Wherever you are in your life it's entirely possible to turn your life around.
It's not always easy. But it is possible.
You're looking for answers. You're searching for strategies and ideas.
You'e way ahead of most people already.
Stay hungry and take action. Keep your eyes open for opportunities.
Over time you will have what you want.
- Accept where you are then commit to change
- Apply the principle of Cause & Effect
- You're responsible for tuning your life around
- Be very clear about what you want
- Think solutions not problems
- Don’t be so hard on yourself
You will experience a feeling of exhilaration when you find yourself living a life that was once only a thought in your mind.
You'll look back to this time and think "Wow, I've really come a long way".
Now that's manifestation.
