15 Ways How to Have a Spectacular Day
How to Make Your Days Spectacular
1. Decide What a Great Day Looks Like
What would be your ideal start to the day?
Breakfast with your family?
A five mile run?
Walking on the beach?
What activities and contributions would cause you to say at the end of your day “today was a good day”?
2. Get a Nice Deep Sleep
Quality sleep is critical. You need it to keep your biological machine switched on and fine tuned.
Better health, lower stress and increased mental focus are all benefits of good sleep.
Your body goes through 4 levels of sleep.
The first 3 levels are non-REM (rapid eye movement) sleep. The fourth level is REM.
Level 1 (NREM)
· light sleep
· easily awoken
· muscle and brain wave activity beginning to slow
· prone to mild muscle spasms
Level 2 (NREM)
· not as easy to be woken or aroused
· brain waves continue to slow
· heart rate begins to slow
Level 3 (NREM)
· known as deep NREM
· Restorative to mind and body
· Difficult to awaken someone in level 3 sleep
Level 4 (REM)
· Known as the dreaming sleep
· Brainwaves more active than levels 2 & 3
· Can wake feeling foggy or over tired after a level 4 sleep
Your body likes routine. Try to get up the same time each morning and go to bed at a similar time at night.
Some people are night owls. Others thrive on only 4 hours of sleep. There’s no one size fits all.
Do what works for you. But be sure to get quality sleep.

Work can be a major source of stress in our lives.
A lot of people work mundane type jobs that they know aren’t their true calling in life.
For one reason or another they’re in an environment they don’t particularly want to be in.
They live each day with stress or dissatisfaction lingering in the back of their mind.
People higher up the career ladder also have high levels of work related stress in their life.
A constant barrage of workplace tasks and responsibilities.
Managing teams of people and dealing with the complexity of different personalities.
Being bombarded with work emails and messages, even on their day off.
Whatever your current position in life these productivity strategies will give you a boost at work and in life;
1. Walk in With a Positive Attitude
Starting your day on a good note sets a strong foundation for a productive and enjoyable day.
Walk into your work place in a positive resourceful state.
You'll be more effective at your job and an inspiration to your co-workers.
The right attitude at work creates a better work environment for everyone.
You're there anyway so you may as well make the most of it.
So many people paddle through their day doing the least amount of work they can get away with.
Don't do your job with a defeatist mindset and attitude.
Radiating positive energy at work sets you apart from the average worker.
This puts you in a position to advance your career of that's your goal.
2. Prioritise Your Work
Being organised helps you avoid overwhelm.
Having your things in order gives your brain a clear path to follow.
It also saves valuable time.
Your productivity will increase and you'll conserve your brain power.
Before you finish each day write down a few key tasks you need to attend to the following day.
Leave it where you’ll see it as soon as you arrive the next morning.
When you arrive you can hit the ground running.
Depending on the nature of your job you can do this on a daily or weekly basis.
Prepare what you need in advance.
When you arrive your files are ready, your tasks are laid out before you, and you’re ready to go.
Block out all distractions when you work. When you work, work.
Idle and meaningless chatter is not permitted when you’re working.
Don't let yourself get distracted. Stay in your zone.
Ignore your email and switch off your phone.
Checking it every 5 minutes breaks your concentration and ruins your productivity.
3. Do Your Work and Be Done
When you’re at work, do your work. Then forget about it.
Don’t take your work home with you. Don’t spend the night talking about your work at home.
Don’t check work related emails. Completely forget about work.
Give yourself the gift of some non-work time.
I can hear people saying “but my situations different”. It might be.
But does that email need to be opened and responded to tonight?
Do you need to be sitting in bed with your laptop open pouring over spreadsheets before you sleep?
If your business or workload requires it, sure.
But could you reassess your priorities or restructure your time so you don’t have to do it?
Work is part of being a functional responsible adult.
It’s not your whole life though. It comes down to your mindset.
You can be ridiculously productive and still have time for yourself.
Create some kind of balance in your day. Allocate time for you. You deserve it.
8 Ways to Make Your Day Spectacular
1. Do Something Meaningful
A sure way to have a good day is to do something meaningful.
Do something that edges you closer to your goals.
Do what feeds your mind, body or soul.
Do those things that align with your highest values and interests. You know what they are.
Make the time and do it.
2. Be Kind to Yourself and Others
Being kind to people has a miraculous effect on our own state of mind. Try it.
Be kind to people when there's an opportunity to do so and notice how you feel.
You don’t need to approach strangers in the street offering hugs. A smile or few positive words will be fine.
3. Fuel Your Body
Put good food into your body. Your mind and body are two parts of the same system.
When you eat well you feel well. When you feel well you tend to do well.
Success isn't complicated. Success is doing the small things well everyday.
4. Get Around Good People
The people you spend time with have a direct effect on who you become.
Your standards rise and fall in line with your peer group.
Look at some real world examples and you'll see this is true.
A teenager joins a peer group of trouble makers who drink alcohol and smoke drugs.
To be part of the tribe means taking part in that tribes rituals.
If the teenager wishes to be part of the group she too will indulge in the same behaviours to fit in.
The opposite is also true. Put that same teen in a positive environment with people who have high personal standards, and watch her rise.
You’ve experienced peer group influence in your own life. Can you think of your own examples?
Peer groups are such a powerful influence, when we become adults we tend to overlook that fact.
Be very selective about who you spend time with.
5. Get Into a Positive Environment
The environments you spend your time in determine the quality of your day, and your life.
Put yourself in positive environments.
If your workplace is toxic head straight to the gym after work.
Go for a walk in nature. Go somewhere nice and sit there soaking up good energy.
It could be a park, a beach, a coffee shop you feel comfortable in, a gym, a library.
Spend your time in positive environments with quality people. Your days will be better.
Your life will thank you for it.
6. Stimulate Your Mind
Feed your mind with good stuff. Lighten up your neurology.
Everything begins in your mind. Your mind is the control centre of your life.
When your personal psychology is functioning well everything else should fall nicely into place.
Put your best foot forward. Take care of your appearance.
Make an effort to look good.
When you look good you feel good. When you feel good you do well.
Your confidence and self esteem rise. You feel better about yourself.
People respond to you more favourably when you take care of your appearance.
This isn't a superficial statement. This is a fact.
You also feel better about yourself when you look good.
You create a positive feedback loop that enhances your life on a daily basis.
8. Treat Yourself
Every day do something for yourself. Even an hour of relaxation.
Have a workout. Get yourself a foot massage. Read a good book. Put yourself first.
Do something to reinforce the fact that you are number one.
Your inner peace and well being is your priority. Without it you'll crash and burn.
This isn't selfish, it's intelligent.
Unless you're at your best, how can you give your best to the world?
